On behalf of the San Antonio Chapter Nominations and Elections Committee, it is our pleasure to announce the Call for Nominations for the 2025-2026 SMPS San Antonio Chapter Board of Directors. This call for nominations is an opportunity to nominate our chapter’s future leaders who will continue to move the chapter forward to be a nationally recognized/award-winning chapter of SMPS. During the 2025-2026 year, the San Antonio Chapter will celebrate our 25^th anniversary and our city will be host to the SMPS Southern Regional Conference.

Nomination of a current SMPS San Antonio member or self-nomination applications is allowed and encouraged. Our quality programming and organizational activities are only made possible by the efforts of our Board of Directors and committee members.

2025-2026 Board Positions

The San Antonio Chapter Nominations & Elections Committee seeks qualified candidates to fill the positions listed below on the 2025-2026 Board of Directors. All roles are volunteer roles.

• President-Elect. This is a three-year board commitment. To be eligible for this position, a member must have a minimum of one year of service on the Board. This role serves on the executive committee. 
• Secretary. This is a one-year commitment. This role serves on the executive committee.
• Treasurer. This is a two-year commitment. This role serves on the executive committee. 
• Director-at-Large. This is a one-year commitment that is associated with chairing a committee. To be eligible for this position, a member must be in good standing. Current Director-at-Large positions accepting nominations include:
• Communications
• Education
• Programs
• Membership
• Sponsorship
• Special Events

Current Board members returning to the 2025-2026 Board include:

• Garrett McCullough, President; will become Immediate Past President
• Maria Nelson, President-Elect: will succeed as President

Term of Office

Terms of office for one-year positions officially commence on September 1, 2025 and will end on December 31, 2026 as we accommodate the new SMPS fiscal year. New board members will also need to participate in up to two planning/transition meetings from June 1 – August 31.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for a position on the Board, you must meet the following requirements:

• For President-Elect, the individual must be a Regular or Distinguished Life Member for one year as of the date his or her term of office commences and has served on the Board of Directors for one year.
• To be eligible for election as the Secretary, Treasurer, or Director, the individual must be a Regular or Distinguished Life Member and must have been such a member for one year as of the date his or her membership commences. No individual may hold more than one Directorship at any time.

Also, the SMPS San Antonio Chapter asks that applicants:

• Have the endorsement of your firm
• Be committed to the SMPS Mission
• Be willing to devote 5-10 hours per month to SMPS
• Be willing/available to attend monthly board meetings, programs, and other events
• Be a team player and contribute personal and professional qualities that complement those of other board members
• Become knowledgeable about current goals and issues of importance to the Chapter
• Be committed to advancing the interests of the Society and the Chapter
• Be willing to place SMPS's purposes and interests above your own professional and personal interests when making decisions as a board member
• Be committed to having fun with fellow board members

Nominations and Elections

The Nominations and Elections committee shall consist of the current President, President-Elect, up to 5 additional slating committee members (chosen from the Chapter membership), and the Past President, who will serve in an advisory/non – voting role.
